Spain Tour Madrid to Bilbao 3 days

Day 1 – Ribera del Duero: tradition, vineyards and historic wineries

Departure from Madrid to the prestigious Ribera del Duero wine region, renowned for its elegant red wines. Guided tour of a renowned winery, including a tour of its facilities and a tasting of three wines paired with local appetizers.

Lunch in Peñafiel with a Castilian menu paired with local wines. Continue to Aranda de Duero to visit a second historic winery with 15th-century underground galleries and enjoy a tasting.

In the afternoon, arrival in Miranda de Ebro, accommodation and dinner at leisure in its old town.

Day 2 – The legacy of wine: Vivanco and the Museum of Wine Culture

The day will begin with departure from Miranda de Ebro towards Rioja Alavesa , one of the most elegant and renowned wine regions in northern Spain. The first visit will be to Bodegas Marqués de Riscal , a very special stop on the tour due to its historical importance in the world of wine and the unique beauty of its surroundings. This visit offers the opportunity to discover an iconic winery where tradition, prestige, and architecture come together to provide a truly comprehensive wine experience.

After the visit, we continue by road to La Rioja for the second major stop of the day at Vivanco , one of the most interesting places to delve deeper into wine culture from a broader perspective. This visit offers a complementary approach, allowing us not only to continue enjoying the wine-related aspect of the trip but also to better understand the historical, cultural, and heritage dimensions surrounding wine in this region.

Between the two visits, a lunch stop can be arranged , taking advantage of the drive between Rioja Alavesa and La Rioja to enjoy the vineyards and small wine-producing villages that characterize this part of the trip. After the visit to Vivanco , the return to Miranda de Ebro will be by road , concluding a very full day with visits to two of the most outstanding wine tourism destinations in northern Spain.

Day 3 – Nature and salt: Nervión Waterfall and the Añana and Bilbao Salt Flats

The day will begin with a departure for the Añana Salt Flats , one of the most unique cultural landscapes in northern Spain. This visit offers the opportunity to discover a historically significant site, where salt has shaped the region’s identity for centuries and sculpted a truly special landscape. Exploring the salt flats is a fascinating way to learn about a tradition linked to the use of natural resources, in an environment that combines heritage, history, and a visual experience unlike any other stop on the trip.

After the visit, continue by road to the Salto del Nervión, the highest waterfall on the Iberian Peninsula (220 m). A visit to the Salto del Nervión offers one of the most breathtaking views in the area and adds a special element of nature and expansive landscape to the tour.

Time for lunch , allowing for a relaxed pace throughout the day to calmly enjoy both the historical significance of Añana and the natural surroundings of the Nervión River. Afterwards, departure for Bilbao , where the tour will conclude.
